About

Richard Garrett Cobb

I'm a Marine Corps veteran and former firefighter who now runs software programs built with AI. I care less about how fast AI writes code and more about how you prove the result is right.

How I got here

I spent five years in the Marine Corps as an intelligence specialist, producing analysis on deadline, briefing staff and running secure facilities. That's where I learned to write things down precisely and to check a source before trusting it.

After the Marines I worked in university administration, then spent about five years as a firefighter and EMT in Montgomery and Pelham, Alabama. Emergency work means fast decisions with incomplete information, run against a checklist under incident command.

In 2025 I founded Inextier LLC and started building software with AI tools: two desktop apps that passed Microsoft Store certification, then a study platform and the servers to host it. Today I'm a procurement coordinator for an international construction contractor, and I assist with program development.

Every project since has run the same way. I write the requirements and the decisions, AI writes the code, and nothing is accepted until it passes checks I defined. Dev Instincts grew out of that: a ledger of every defect that AI written code got past its tests. It is now open source, and its first outside review found six bugs I filed with the project that wrote the code.

What I'm working toward

I'm working toward AI technical program management: owning how a team builds with AI, what gets reviewed, what gets trusted, and what proof a release needs.

Currently learning

  • B.S. in Project Management at Western Governors University, expected late 2027
  • System design and AI evaluation, applied in my own programs
